Established in 1923, by the now legendary Late Sri K.Krishna Rao, the Woodlands Hotel is a vegetarian establishment owned and run by members of the same orthodox and devout family. Starting in Chennai (then Madras), Late Sri K.Krishna Rao went from a two-rupee-a-month iddli flour grinder to benevolent giant of the hospitality industry. He infused respectability and dignity to being an hotelier. Many have built bigger “starred” hotels and restaurants but the respect and acceptance he commanded in society at large remains unequalled. Born in the village of Kadandale, in South Canara, the Late Sri K.Krishna Rao was an intensely religious and God fearing person. He was a great devotee of Lord Subramanya of Kadandale. His legacy was to develop a chain of the finest vegetarian restaurants and hotels in India, become the doyen of the hotel industry in the South, and the mentor and moral support of innumerable other restaurateurs and hoteliers. Sri K.Vasudeva Rao, Managing Director along with the able assistance of his sons Sri K.Ramakrishna Rao and Sri K.Pranesh Rao manage the Woodlands Hotel Bangalore. |
